About the Founder
Rebecca S. Katz is a filmmaker and activist for compassion. She was raised in Canton, MA, and graduated from Tufts University in 2007, where she majored in English and Film Studies. She spent three years in New York City working for Shine Global, a non-profit film production company dedicated to ending the abuse and exploitation of children worldwide through documentary films that raise awareness and effect political change.
At Shine, Rebecca acted as Associate Producer on “War Dance Returns,” the short follow up documentary to Shine Global’s 2007 Academy Award-nominated film, “War Dance,” which aired on the Sundance Channel in May 2009. She is also serving as Associate Producer for Shine’s second feature documentary, “The Harvest,” which Eva Longoria Parker is executive producing. Please visit the Shine Global website to learn more!
Rebecca now resides in Los Angeles and is attending the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC where she expects to receive her MFA in 2012.

What a beautiful, extensive website! You should be proud! I certainly am.
I also think what you are doing here is wonderful. We all need to be more tolerant and accepting of others and it is a constant work in progress. Education and listening and being willing to think about things without passing judgment are the key to growing. Professing my faith, political affiliation, team loyalties and such are not considered “coming out” and are accepted and respected by most people; so should be professing one’s sexuality. Being my daughter’s friend and having known you for the past 6 years, I am proud of you and the things you are doing. Keep up the good work!
Becca, the world is a better place with you in it! If I were lucky enough to have had a daughter I would wish her to be as wonderful as you!! Keep following your heart!

your mom told me about this site and it is hard to sum up in a few words how amazing and important i think a website of this nature is.
i initially got goosebumps and told your mom, how great i thought the idea and implementing it was. what an amazing space for children, youth, children, bi, straight, transgender, parents to go and learn and find insight and compassion on “coming out”.
i am certain you have already helped more people than you can even imagine.
i honestly can not say enough. you are a mover and a shaker and the world needs more people like you!

Wow, I guess being a comical writer has really impaired my ability to write something serious for a change. I must have gone through at least three draft posts before deciding that this was the most appropriate one. Anyway I wanted to keep this short.

Your mom told me about your work and I am so proud of all that you’ve accomplished. There is nothing more important in this world than teaching others that every person is made in the image of God and that all people are equal in God’s eyes. I am proud that your old spiritual home, TBA is a LGBT Safe Zone and hope that you might be able to come back and visit us sometime. Hey Bec,
The interviews are really fascinating. You have done such a wonderful job in presenting such moving and different stories. The people you have interviewed seem so at ease with you in the interviews. I am still surprised by the need to fight for equality in this day and age, although it is obvious it is needed more than ever. That saddens me.
On a personal note, I love you unconditionally, always, forever and admire your passion, determination and hard work in this endeavor.
